Back to the Basics

MAKE UP BASICS

I had a soror ask me to give her some basic makeup tips so I figured I would blog about it

Here are a few things I suggest that you get to start off your makeup kit, no need to spend a lot of money unless you know you are going to wear makeup on the regular.

Foundation: It is to smooth out your skin and give you a finished look.  For many years I only wore pressed powder, as I got a little older I switched it up to mineral powder.  Foundation is very much trial and error, I don’t care what ethnic background you are…. Some people are hard to match… and I am one of them… I am currently using Bare Minerals.  But there are some drug store brands which are good Cover Girl, Revlon, Maybelline, etc… For first time users I suggest you try them out because the investment is minimal. Or you could go to department store but you will pay more or with Mary Kay or Avon.  But you want to get a good foundation, think of it as your base to protect your face from the elements.  You want the color of the foundation to blend in with your jaw line it should not be seen and it should not look like a mask.  If you look casket sharp….thats not your color

The Eyes:  Most people this is where the drama is.

You want to get a good base, it will help your shadow not to crease and last longer on your eyes, check out Two Faced Shadow Insurance $18 @ Sehpora. A little goes a long way  with the base.

Next you want to get a couple of shadow quads or doubles, that way you can try out more than one color at once.  Check out Cover Girl, Maybelline, Revlon, etc for shadow quads or duos, pick up 2 that you like so you can play with the colors.

Pick up a brown and black eyeliner and a good mascara.  I love Maybelline’s Great Lash, the pink bottle with the green top…great mascara and not hard on the pockets.

Lips: Just like with your eyes you need a good base to start with good base, something to soften the lips and help the liner glide on, MAC makes a great lip treatment, as does Mary Kay.  Its a matter of personal preference.  I am the queen of lip gloss and liner…I do not wear much lipstick any more.  Miliani has some good glosses that almost give you the look of MAC.

Brushes: I do not suggest investing in expensive brushes just starting out, there is a brand at CVS that makes some nice brushes Essence Of Beauty they are sturdy and work pretty well they do not shed a lot.  Also check out Coastal Scents they have brush sets that are reasonable, Target for the Sonia Kashuk brand,  and EFL studio line, makes some great brushes.  You dont have to spend a lot of money if you do not want to.

I will be posting up a video about these tips and some makeup looks…so check back…

OZone Raquel Lace Front Wig Review

OZone Lace Front Wig from LHB

I purchased this lace front synthetic wig from the Luxurio

us Hair Boutique *click here* This is an amazing wig.

This is the first time trying the OZone Brand and I am sold :) The lace on the front is french lace, it is not the typical lace on most synthetic wigs,

it is not going to scratch up your forehead.   It has adjustable straps an

d 3 combs.

The hair is very soft, but it is really long 26+” so I will be putting this one away until the Fall, it is too hot here for a long wig I would melt in to a big brown puddle lol

I can’t wait to order another OZone from LHB.

Thumbs up :)

If you have an Ozone Wig let me know how you like them….

Janet Collection Mommy Wig Review

Janet Collection Human Hair Mommy Wig Review

This wig has a cult following on Youtube lol…I got this wig from Hair stop and shop *click to visit* I got it in color M33/350

Now out the package this wig is not that impressive.  You have to play with her and wet her to get the curls to come to life…she is a very cute and sassy wig.

If you have this wig let me know how you style it….

I am sporting MAC’s super glass in cherry electric on my lips with chestnut liner….LOVE IT

The glitter chunks are bigger than on dazzle glass you can actually feel them but it’s not bad….

I am not affiliated with Hairstop&shop nor with MAC I purchase all items.

The Mommy Wig and the Super Glass both get a Thumbs Up

CoverGirl Shadow Blast Review

CoverGirl Shadow Blast Review

As you all know I am a Buzz Agent *click to see buzz back*  and I received these CoverGirl Shadow Blast products to review and Buzz about.  I was so excited because I love CoverGirl…but when I got them and tried them I was disappointed.

You get a dual ended tube cream shadow, to do a smoky eye look. One end Step 1 goes on your lid and the other end Step 2 goes in your crease.  Well cream shadows are hard to have as your sole eye color even if you prime your lids.  I used Two Faced Shadow Insurance on my lids and the eye color still creased before I even completed my makeup, and after 2 hours of wearing it had all but disappeared.   I love the concept that CoverGirl is going for but it did not work in a practical application.  The lip gloss that came with it was great, it is a sheer lip gloss with a great scent and not too sticky or too drying.

Overall I would pass on the Shadow Blast eye colors, unless you are using it as a base color.  The lip gloss is great and gets thumbs up, the shadow  thumbs down.

Foundation Update!!!!!

FOUNDATION UPDATE!!!!

Many of you know that I have been on Holy Grail quest to find a new foundation now that Prescriptives has closed their counters.  (See the video I did)

Well a couple of months back while in the mall I passed by a Bare Minerals store and I have been debating about trying them because I had heard mixed reviews about their products, that it make people break out, makes their face itch, etc.  But I took a gamble and WON!!! I love and adore my Bare Minerals Foundation makeup.  They actually have a shade that matches me, it is a new shade so I am glad i waited to try them out.  I use warm tan and I got the starter box for $60 @ the Bare Minerals store.  I do not really care for the warmth as an all over face powder but I love the other products.  The Mineral Veil is the bestest *yes i made up a word* lol it is great, gives you a soft airbrushed look…like my skin is flawless…and Divas who does not want perfect, flawless looking skin….woohoo

You can purchase Bare Minerals from their store, online, or from Sephora, Ulta, and QVC online.  And I have heard that they have opened up makeup counters in Macy’s.

So my makeup Divas…. please let me know if you use BE and how  you like it or if you like it….

Bare Minerals gets a big thumbs up

CoverGirl Simply Ageless Review

COVERGIRL SIMPLY AGELESS BUZZ REVIEW

I am a Buzz Agent and they sent me these products to review…I love the CoverGirl brand so I was super excited about this campaign.  The colors that I received were way too light.  I was not able to use the foundation or eye corrector, but i did use the concealer and blush which i both love.  I like the blush color, the concealer i need in a better color for me.  I will be purchasing the right shade for me.

Overall i like the line, i like the creaminess of the products, they go on smooth and feel light and do not weigh down your skin.

Thumbs up for CoverGirl Simply Ageless products…..

NYX Cosmetics & Why I Wont Buy Them

Many of you are familiar with NYX Cosmetics and like and use them…..But here is why i will not purchase from them ever again…..

They had a bundle of joy sale back on April 22, 2010.  It was an ok sale, but I purchased a bundle of their jumbo pencils which I love for base on my eye lids.  It is May 27, 2010 and I have yet to receive my product.  I have emailed the company on May 19, 2010 and i have yet to receive a response.

While I might not spend as much as some on cosmetics, I do spend enough….I will be happy to take my business else where if this is how I am treated.  This is piss poor customer service…..

BUYER BEWARE OF NYX COSMETICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
